Winter words vocabulary activities
Explore cold-weather clothing and seasonal observations. Explain that winter looks different around the world, and some learners may never have experienced snow.
Make a winter words worksheetYour starting word list
Before you print
Read through the list together. Check that learners know the meaning of each word, and replace words that do not fit your lesson. The generator uses uppercase A–Z letters. A worksheet practises spelling and recognition; introduce new meanings before asking learners to work independently.
A classroom idea
Ask learners to pack a pretend bag for a cold day. They should explain which items are useful and describe how the weather might differ where they live.
Talk about it
Which winter words describe weather and which describe things people use?
Choose an activity
- Word search: start with across and down, then add diagonal or backward directions.
- Vocabulary bingo: use the small grid with this list, and call words or definitions.
- Word scramble: rebuild each word and check it against the separate key.
